A pair of talented teens will put their beauty skills to the test as they compete for a chance to showcase their work on the world stage.
Ashlea Gissing and Amber Scholes have made it through to the penultimate stage of the World Skills International Competition, and are now set to battle it out to be selected to represent the UK at the contest's global showdown in Brazil.
The former Great Yarmouth College students will be going up against each other and one other contestant in the hope of taking their salon skills to Sao Paulo next year.
Ashlea, 18, from Lowestoft, and Amber, 19, from Yarmouth, were thrilled to reach the UK finals of the competition - billed the 'skills Olympics' - and were then hand selected for the UK squad.
Since then they have been competing and training across the country ahead of the final competition to decide which beautician goes to Brazil.
Amber, who works at the Aphrodite salon at Potters resort in Hopton, said it felt amazing to have got so far in the contest, and was not bothered about going up against Ashlea.
'We'll be happy for whoever gets through,' she said. 'We have trained the whole way through together.'
Ashlea, who works at Rosie's Beauty in Lowestoft, added: 'Hopefully the hard work will pay off for one of us.'
The pair are now training ahead of May's decider competition, which will test their entire range of beauty skills from nail art to media make-up.
And they are not the college's only star students preparing to put their hair and beauty skills to the test.
Jess Perkins, Chanel Jarvis, Erin Kelf and Jasmine Lottie Marshall have all earned a place in the World Skills UK finals, to be held in Birmingham later this year.
Jess, 17, from Martham, Chanel, 21, from Yarmouth and Erin, 19, from Halvergate will be battling it out for bronze, silver and gold in the beauty stakes, while Jasmine, from Yarmouth, will be hoping for top place in the hairdressing heats.
The 20-year-old is the college's first hairdressing student to make it to the finals and said she was looking forward to competing.
'I'm so excited, I've finally got there. I never thought it would happen but it did,' she added.
Val Thacker, learning manager for hair and beauty, said it was 'outstanding' to have so many students achieve so well in the competition. She said: 'It's not just a one person thing, it's a team effort. We're so proud of the work we do here. 'The girls have really pushed it this year and we're really proud of all of them. And I'm really proud of my staff.'
