The education watchdog is hosting an online conference for school governors in the east.

Ofsted will run the webinar, on governance, at 6pm on Monday, November 27 - and wants as many people who work in education locally as possible to take part.

Inviting governors, school leaders and local authorities in the east to join, Paul Brooker, the body's director for the east, said: 'Effective governance is vital in holding school leaders to account. Good governors act as critical friends to schools and ensure they are providing a high standard of education for all their pupils.

'We have organised this webinar to help governors, school leaders and local authority colleagues understand how we inspect a school's governance arrangements. It is also an opportunity for people to engage directly with Her Majesty's Inspectors and share their views, experiences and concerns about inspections.

'When you register for the webinar, you will also be able to shape the discussion by telling us what you would like us to cover when we talk about inspecting governance.'
