A primary school classroom has been kitted out with the latest in teaching tech, allowing pupils to learn crucial digital skills.
The digital classroom, and Peterhouse Primary School, was officially opened by Great Yarmouth MP Brandon Lewis last Friday.
And tablets, Chromebooks, laptops, and an interactive whiteboard have been provided by Samsung, as well as key training for teachers and ongoing technical support, creating an enhanced interactive learning environment.
The resources will support students' digital skills development and inspire young learners to positively benefit from the power of everyday technology, aiding them in their current studies and future careers.
At the opening, Mr Lewis met young students from year three who gave him a tour of the new classroom. The MP was impressed by their technological know-how as he participated in an interactive coding lesson using Sphero robots that the young students had created for his visit.
For the last three years Samsung has been working hard to establish digital classrooms at schools and youth employment centres across the UK, providing young people with access to the tools and technology they need to succeed, as well as teacher training and connectivity, with the aim of making lessons more enjoyable and engaging.
Results from the wider Samsung digital classroom programme, which runs throughout the UK, show that bringing technology into the classroom improves students' confidence, enhances their engagement and increases pupil collaboration.
Mr Lewis said: 'I was delighted to open the digital classroom at Peterhouse Primary School today. During my visit I saw how digital technology supports teaching and enhances learning across the curriculum. Samsung's programme is crucial to give young people in Great Yarmouth the digital skills they need to succeed in our connected society and in the modern workplace.'
Tony Bellinger, year three teacher at the school, said: 'The children at Peterhouse have loved engaging with the tablets and big screen in my classroom. It has brought an extra dimension to my teaching and made bringing the curriculum to life a lot easier.
'We have visited the pyramids in Egypt, looked around the London olympic park and designed and built our own robots all from the children's desk using their tablets. This would not have been possible without the digital classroom and the help we have received from Samsung.'
Deputy headteacher Leigh Murray said: 'What a brilliant way for our young pupils to learn. This technology offers our children a chance to discover new things in an exciting and innovative way. Every child has been able to experience awe and wonder as part of the project.'
