This year, the refugee crisis has become increasingly significant, with hundreds of thousands of refugees landing in Europe.

An estimated 750,000 migrants have arrived by sea up until November this year. Many countries, such as Germany, have been very acceptant of these asylum seekers, but some are much more reluctant to let them in.

Refugees are camping and starting fires in the Calais area and making regular attempts to come through the channel tunnel into the UK. After writing to David Cameron, he informed me that we would be giving the most money, excluding the US, to other countries to look after the refugees. The UK will also allow 4,800 refugees to come to live in the country this year, and a total of 20,000 by 2020.

However, this could never home all of the refugees, and all of the countries together haven't taken enough to give them all asylum.

So, this Christmas, and in the winter months, many refugees are still being left in Europe on the streets, homeless. Surely it is basic human right to have somewhere to live? When everyone is celebrating with their families, think about those refugees who have nothing at all, some even without their loved ones.

Think twice before you go to moan about the refugees that you believe to be stealing our jobs, our benefits, or whatever you believe they are looking for, and just look at them as people. People who just want a better life, where home is the most dangerous place, where for you it might be the safest.

Everyone deserves a chance at a decent life.
