I am an ambassador for youth social action, and you can be too. I've been working with other young people and Norfolk County Council to come-up with a plan for getting more young people volunteering, fundraising and campaigning on issues that matter to them. We need your help.

One of our many ideas is to have a team of Youth Social Action Ambassadors – individuals who are willing to spread the word with their peers. Our aim is to have at least one ambassador within each school. They would be responsible for making local volunteering opportunities common knowledge, giving young people the skills to fundraise and the knowledge to campaign.

The ambassadors will do things like give assemblies to different year groups, make posters and create clubs. Earlier this year I gave assemblies in my school to spread the word about the possibility of becoming a volunteer for the Light House 'IT made simple' project in Attleborough. Young people involved teach older citizens to use computers and other technology. As a result of being made aware of the opportunity, over 40 students submitted applications for the five places we had.

Social action is about making real change to people's lives. The ambassadors will help facilitate this change. We're holding a session for anyone who is interested in joining our team at The Forum in Norwich, on Saturday, November 28, between 1pm and 4pm. Sign-up to come along here: http://tiny.cc/YSA.
