Children in Fakenham have been taking to the courts to learn badminton thanks to successful clubs launched by one of their teachers.

Jackie Price started a lunchtime badminton club over nine years ago and it has grown in popularity to the point that today she runs four after school clubs with close to 100 children, aged between 11 and 16, attending each week.

The clubs have also led to the creation of eight teams who reguarly take part in competitions across the region, despite having not played the sport until they started at Fakenham Academy in Year 7.

The pupils have won 11 titles this year, including the Norfolk schools league championship.

Ms Price said: 'I would like to thank my pupils for the effort and commitment they have put in over the years and hope they continue with their success and thank parents and the school for allowing them the time to attend the games and competitions.'
