A high school alumni put together a leavers video for his former school, and it is so fetch.

In a video for current school leavers, staff and teachers from Downham Market Academy (DMA) lip-synced to Bon Jovi's You Give Love a Bad Name while reenacting scenes from the 2004 cult-classic Mean Girls.

Directed by former student Sam Lance, the video features more than 50 staff members and teachers grouped in their respective cliques - the canteen staff, the cover teachers, the PE staff and, of course, the pink-clad plastics.

Even though he doesn't even go there, this is Mr Lance's fourth leavers video for the school, with his first video in 2015 centred around 70s hit Don't Stop Me Now, his second video in 2016 on 80s single Holding Out For a Hero and last year's video inspired by US sit-com Friends.

He had once again teamed up with producer Ian Gooda, head of film and media studies at DMA, who also features in the film rocking out to the Bon Jovi tune and before smashing his guitar.

But it does not end with a cake filled with rainbows and smiles as the teachers descend into a competitive powdered paint fight, which was filmed on a drone by Charlie Green.

Mr Lance, who is studying media studies at Lincoln University, said: 'My goal was to make something genuinely cinematic as opposed to just a generic leavers video, and though that has always been my intention, I think this is the closest we've gotten in our four years of doing this.

'The song choice and Mean Girls theme was very much the brainchild of Ian Gooda, and it still surprises me how well those two otherwise unconnected inspirations work together!'

The video was debuted to current Year 11 school leavers at their prom evening on Friday, June 29.

It has gotten nearly 4,000 views within three days on YouTube, with Mr Lance's previous leavers videos racking up more than 56,000 views.

'It was a really rewarding experience to shoot and edit this particular video,' Mr Lance added.

'The staff were particularly enthusiastic to bring new ideas to the table, and as my final video in the series it was a great opportunity for me to try some new techniques I otherwise hadn't explored previously.'
