Bookworms who need a book or two for the summer holidays should head to the Festival of Books in Docking.

More than 2,000 books will be on offer at the festival, which will take place on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27 at Docking Church.

Vicar of Docking Reverend Peter Cook said: 'With the sun finally making an appearance we are all being given a reminder that we will soon be needing a book or two for our summer holidays.

'We have a wide range of fiction books and non-fiction books that take in history - political, military and social, natural history, gardening, cookery and items of general interest. We also have a good range of children's books too.'

Now in its eighth year, the festival will host a creative writing competition for the children from Docking School. The different entries will be made in class groups and each class will win a prize.

The free event will take place between 10am and 4pm.
