A group of parents at a village school have rebranded themselves in their continuing quest to raise funds to enrich the lives of pupils.

The Friends of Moorlands is the new name for the parent teacher association at Moorlands Church of England Primary Academy in Belton, near Great Yarmouth.

Its new chairman is Alex Hemp.

He said the rebrand happened as he felt the word PTA gave him the impression of being “clinical” and a “bit scary”.

Mr Hemp said the aims of the Friends of Moorlands was to raise cash to provide “children cool things to do while they are at school whilst having fun on the way and boosting community spirit”.

The newly name group held at launch event at the school with 200 people turning up as children enjoyed playing on two bouncy castles and taking part in various games. People were also asked how funds should be spent.
