Scribbles Pre-School Group, based in Bawsdeswell and North Elmham, between Reepham and Dereham, has launched a cycle scheme offering children a bike to ride.

Anna Moody, of the group, said: “Here at Scribbles, our children love being outside and being active. We ensure they have bikes outside - and sometimes inside - daily, to exercise and boost their mental health.

“All the Scribbles team, adults and children, love being outside and being active whether its horse riding, walking the dog, exploring woods or the wonderful beaches we have here in Norfolk. We love it.

“However, some children are not this lucky.

“The team love watching the children biking and this, combined with our own families passion for biking, is what made us want to ensure that every child has the same opportunities and chances. So, myself and Debbie came up with Scribbles Cycle Scheme.”

The scheme will initially be funded by Scribbles, which has a qualified bike technician on the team, but the staff are appealing for bike donations and help to raise awareness.

Aimed at vulnerable or deprived children, but open to everyone, the aim is to ensure every child in Bawdeswell, Foxley and North Elmham, up to the age of 12, has access to a bike this summer.

Mrs Moody added: “Riding a bike may sound simple but we feel this is a life skill this every child should do and love, but we appreciate finances may hinder this.

“Let’s not let any child miss out on the simple things in life like riding a bike and loving outdoor life.

“If you know a child that needs a bike, please get in touch with us.”

The team are working with Bawdeswell Parish Council and Bawdeswell Primary School to ensure they can reach as much of the community as possible.

- Anyone who would like a bike, or has a bike to donate, can contact the Scribbles team via their Facebook page (Scribbles Pre-School Group) or by emailing scribblespreschoolgroup@gmail.com. There is also a limited supply of helmets.
