A north Norfolk high school with "strong, thoughtful and well-focused leadership" has been told it is still a good school

Aylsham High School received a visit from inspectors in May, four years after it was originally given the good rating in 2014.

Writing to headteacher Duncan Spalding, inspectors said: “You provide strong, thoughtful and well-focused leadership. You are guided by your desire to provide pupils, staff and the wider community with an effective, values driven school.

“You are passionate about your long-term vision for the development of education in Aylsham.”

They said pupils continued to show positive behaviour and attitudes displayed in the last visit, describing them as “friendly, welcoming and polite”.

A report published after the visit praised the school’s Friendly Faces initiative, an anti-bullying group which is well used at the school and has won several national awards.

There was praise for teaching, with leaders acknowledging that improvements are still ongoing.

Inspectors said: “Strong relationships with teachers mean that pupils take risks and answer questions when they are unsure - this clarifies misconceptions and deepens their understanding.”
