Ed Sheeran named most-streamed Spotify artist of 2017

Ed Sheeran has been revealed as the most-streamed artist on Spotify of 2017.
The singer-songwriter from Framlingham topped the list after his tracks were streamed a total of 6.3bn times throughout the year.

He also has Spotify’s biggest album of the year with ÷ which has garnered 3.1bn streams since March and his song Shape of You has become the most popular song ever to be released on the music platform, with a whopping 1.4bn streams.
All of these figures have helped the 26-year-old become the most popular male artist worldwide on Spotify, beating out the likes of The Weeknd and Drake.

Rihanna was named the most-streamed female artist of the year, ahead of Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez, while Coldplay were the most-streamed band.
If this weren’t enough, the Thinking Out Loud singer may be on the way to claim his fourth Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart as his latest song, a reworked version of Perfect on which he duets with Beyonce, is storming the chart. Industry experts are suggesting it could become this year’s Christmas Number 1.
