A playing field association has submitted plans to turn a sports centre environmentally-friendly with a wind turbine and solar panels.
South Norfolk Council has received the screening opinion application for the Hingham Sports Centre, off Watton Road, for the 18m turbine, 44 solar photo voltaic panels, and four solar thermal panels.
The mast would provide an estimated 86pc of the sport hall's electricity and the solar panels 21pc, say Hingham Playing Field Association.
The proposals are part of the association's plans to cut its carbon footprint and reduce electricity bills.
The turbine, which would be placed on the northern boundary of the playing field, would be 150m from the nearest homes. The solar panels would be placed on the centre's roof.
