A grandmother who lost one of her children to cot death was among the people at a special training session to teach parents life-saving skills.
Hayley Bishop from Winterton joined her daughter Hollie Ashton, who is expecting a baby in a fortnight, to learn basic life support for babies at Martham Health Centre.
Mrs Bishop said: 'I lost my first child to sudden infant death syndrome and there was very little information out there at the time.
'I want to have peace of mind when my grandchild arrives and know exactly what to do in an emergency.'
The course is run by East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH). Trainer Simon Drewett taught the group how to recognise the signs when a baby stops breathing or is choking.
They also learned resuscitation techniques.
The free training session was organised by one of ECCH's health visitors Emma Czajkowski, who said: 'Having worked previously in A&E, I have seen first-hand the difference that applying these techniques makes prior to the baby arriving at hospital.
'I feel very passionate about making sure as many parents as possible know what to do in the event that their baby stops breathing or is choking.'
Hollie, who encouraged her mother to join her at the session, added: 'I wanted to gain as much knowledge as possible before the baby arrives so I feel prepared if a situation arises.'
ECCH provides health-visiting services to all families of pre- school children across the Great Yarmouth, Gorleston and Waveney area.
