Film makers from across East Anglia will be battling it out for the coveted 'Golden Shuck' at this years Fear in the Fens Festival, Downham Market on October 26-28.
Eight makers have entered their short horror films in to this year's festival and for the first time, the public will be able to choose their favourite and who will be awarded the Golden Shuck.
Festival curator, Kit Lewis of CULTure Babylon said: 'This is our third Fear in the Fens Festival, and showing local films has always been an important part of the event. East Anglia has a remarkable landscape and is home to some incredibly creative and talented people.
'While the festival itself gives local film makers a rare chance to put their work on the big screen, the award is intended to both encourage and recognise creativity, and to give the winner something they can use when promoting their films to festivals, film distributors and within the industry generally.'
The award has been sculpted and cast by Christine Pike of FreyasDottir Designs and the design and development has been supported by Norfolk County Council's Arts Fund.
Mr Lewis said: 'We chose the image of Black Shuck for the award because it is an iconic part of East Anglian Folklore and embodies the sense of mystery and foreboding that is still associated with the Fenland landscape.'
To be considered for selection, the films submitted have to be either shot in East Anglia, or made using East Anglian acting or technical talent.
