A civilian member of staff at HMP Wayland has been charged in connection with drug offences after a stop-and-search at the prison.

The arrest of Duane Lee Parker, 39, of Silfield Avenue, Wymondham followed an incident at the prison on March 13 where Subutex - an opioid Class A drug - was found.

He was then taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, and charged with misconduct in a public place, money laundering, possession of cannabis, possession of a new psychoactive substance (NPS) with intent to supply and conveyance of a prohibited article into a prison.

Parker has been bailed to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on Friday, August 18.
