A drug addict was yesterday jailed for the manslaughter of her partner after she injected him with a fatal dose of heroin.

Tasmin Moore, 32, injected the drug into Torino Shakur at the home they shared in Horning Close, in Norwich, before injecting herself.

She went to the bathroom and when she came out she found Mr Shakur, 39, who was a keen bodybuilder, covered in vomit and appearing unconscious, Norwich Crown Court heard.

She rang 999 and, despite every effort by paramedics to save him, Mr Shakur, who was also known as Darren Ryan, was declared dead.

Moore admitted the manslaughter of Mr Shakur on September 28 last year and was jailed for two years nine months.

Judge Peter Jacobs said Moore was a regular user but Mr Shakur was not and was also taking other prescribed drugs.

"It was the heroin that killed him," he said.

Michael Clare, mitigating, said: "The deceased at the very least asked the defendant to inject him with heroin. She had done so before." He added: "She did not force him to take heroin."

Mr Clare said Moore had given him a normal dose of £5-worth of heroin out of a £25 quantity she had bought.

He said Moore had the support of her family and was now trying to tackle her addiction. "She wants to work as a counsellor," he added.
