Motorists are warned to expect delays due to the transportation of an abnormal loads through Lowestoft this week.

This morning, some roads were closed to allow transformers to be taken from Lowestoft Dock to Sizewell B nuclear power station.

The units measured 5.4m wide, were 55m long and weighed 253,600kg.

Two further closures are planned for Wednesday, January 20 and Thursday, January 21 both starting at 9am.

The route will take the abnormal load along local roads to South Quay, down Belvedere Road and the A12, then on to B1122 and Lover's Lane.

It will continue past Halfway Cottages before ending up at Sizewell Gap and continuing down local routes to the site.
