A 21-year-old driver was threatened with a knife and told to get out of his car after being flagged down by a man claiming to be looking for his dog near Long Stratton.
The driver, who was travelling in a dark coloured VW Golf, managed to drive off but sustained a slight injury to his chest which did not require medical attention.
Police are appealing for information regarding the attempted car-jacking, which took place on Anson's Lane between Wood Lane and Mill Road, Hardwick, on Thursday at about 6.30pm.
The offender is described as white, about 40-years-old, of stocky build, 5ft 8inches tall with a shaven head. He was wearing a dark blue hooded top and black jeans.
