Driver clocked doing double the speed limit in Norfolk village

A driver was caught doing more than double the speed limit in a Norfolk village as police begun a week-long campaign to target speeders.
Police clocked the driver in Beetley doing 63mph in a 30mph zone and the driver was reported to court.
The driver was just one of many who were stopped by police in Norfolk on Monday as part of the Europe-wide campaign.
In Norwich a motorcyclist was stopped by officers from the Road Casualty Reduction Team after being caught doing 52mph in a 30mph zone. N & S Roads Policing tweeted: '#RCRT out in #Norwich today. This stop of motorcycle at 52mph in 30 limit & licence not valid as provisional licence holder! #fatal4 #845.'

On the A47 a van was stopped doing 86mph and by 4.20pm 12 drivers had been stopped in Great Yarmouth with the culprits doing between 43mph and 65mph in a 30mph limit.
During the campaign, which runs until Sunday, officers will be speaking with drivers during the campaign, aiming to highlight dangers of speeding and the consequences that driving above the limit can have through education and enforcement.

Chief Inspector Kris Barnard, head of the Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing Unit, said: 'Speed limits are in place for a reason – the limit is set at the maximum safe speed to travel on a particular stretch of road.
'Drivers shouldn't use these limits as targets; there are always other factors to consider including other road users, levels of traffic and weather conditions.
