A driver caught speeding at 113mph on dual carriageway on the A140 at Scole has been given a 50-day driving ban.

Ben Wilson, 40, of Stuston, Diss, had the sentence imposed in his absence by Norwich magistrates. He was also ordered to pay a £660 fine and to pay £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £66.

Ian Fletcher, prosecuting, said Wilson's Mercedes car was clocked driving at 113mph in 70mph zone at Scole, near Diss, at about 5pm on June 2, last year, and although Wilson denied the offence he was convicted following an earlier trial in his absence.

The court heard the case had a 'protracted' history and in a letter which had been sent to the court by Wilson, he said the matter had caused him 'distress and anxiety'.

The trial in Wilson's absence, took place in May, and was proved in his absence and adjourned for sentencing,
