A man who was found to be just under twice the drink dive limit after being caught doing more than 100mph on the A47 has been disqualified from driving for 18 months.

The driver was stopped by Sgt Chris Harris on the A47 at Acle on May 20 after he was caught doing 105mph. The driver also failed a roadside breathalyser test and was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving.

He later failed subsequent tests in custody and was charged with drink driving.

Mr Harris tweeted on Wednesday that the case had appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court and the driver had been banned from driving for 18 months and had to pay £4225 in fines.

Another driver arrested on May 10 on suspicion of drink driving and disqualified driving was handed a 12-week suspended sentence, a 40 month ban and was ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge.
