Drink drive suspect in custody after police pursuit ends in crash on A47 Acle Straight

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving following a crash on the A47 Acle Straight last night.

The incident happened at about 11.30pm when a Vauxhall Zafira left the roadside and crashed into a ditch near to the Halvergate turning.

It happened shortly after the vehicle had failed to stop for police who were responding to reports of a domestic incident in Great Yarmouth.

The vehicle was being followed by officers at the time of the incident.

The driver, who was uninjured, was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving, possession of a class A drug, a traffic offence and assaulting a police officer.

He remains in custody at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre where he will be questioned.
