Dramatic exercise for retained firefighters from Heacham and Hunstanton
New recruits have been put through their paces after signing up to become retained firefighters.
Crews from Heacham and Hunstanton practised how they would deal with entering a building wearing breathing apparatus to rescue a person trapped inside.
Watch manager Barry Rudd, from Heacham fire station, said: “We have several new recruits at Heacham and Hunstanton, so this was an exercise to test our command and control procedures and create some interest in getting some new recruits.”
After a briefing, firefighters with their visors covered entered the former Dairy Crest building off the High Street to search for a dummy hidden inside. They had to feel their way around blind - just as they would have to during a real incident.
Hunstanton and Heacham stations are both looking for more recruits. For more information, click here.
