The post office in Downham Market is to re-open on Monday after being closed for more than two months.

The High Street branch closed suddenly on July 12. Customers were told to use branches at Denver or Wimbotsham.

Elizabeth Truss MP for South West Norfolk said: 'It is welcome news that the Downham Market Post Office will re-open on Monday however this has been an extremely protracted and frustrating situation.

'The post office has been closed for over two months and in a town the size of Downham Market this is not acceptable. I appreciate that events sometimes occur necessitating a temporary closure, but the lack of alternate planning in providing post office services needs to be addressed and reviewed. The inconvenience and additional costs this has caused my constituents should be looked into and I have raised these points with the chief executive of Post Office Ltd.'
