A lifeboat helped a dog back to shore in a rescue at Happisburgh on Tuesday teatime.
The boat was originally launched about 6.30pm after reports of a swimmer in trouble.
It turned out to be the dog owner, who went in to get his pet which was chasing a seal out to sea.
The lifeboat crew found the man was safely back on the beach. They were unable to get the dog on board but shepherded it back to shore to be reunited with its owner.
