With the rising popularity of gin, a distiller is aiming to hit the right spot by launching a ready mixed G&T.

Southwold-based brewer Adnams has created cans of ready-to-drink gin and tonic using its Copper House Dry Gin and its specially formulated mixer.

The EDP/EADT Top 100 company said it designed the 250ml drinks for people on the move so they can enjoy a tipple at picnics and festivals.

John McCarthy, head distiller at Adnams, said: 'We are all aware that gin has become increasingly popular in the past decade, with customers choosing more premium and interesting spirits to enjoy in their G&T and, combined with the arrival of summer, it made sense to create a portable version of our well-loved gin drink.'

A recent report from the Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA) showed sales of gin topped £1bn for the first time in 2016.
