Cyclists can pencil in a new summer event in their calendars that will see Diss placed firmly on the pedal power map while boosting a team of lifesavers at the same time.
The inaugural Diss Cyclathon will be held on Sunday, June 19 and will see the town become the set off point for a Nine Town Sportive.
The Sportive has three routes, with the longest being a 100 mile circular course that also takes in Harleston, Bungay, Beccles, Loddon, Long Stratton, Wymondham, Attleborough and Thetford.
A 50 mile route will pass through Harleston, Long Stratton, Wymondham and Attleborough and a 25 mile course will go from Diss to Harleston. The Diss Cyclathon will also see shorter guided rides around Diss, plus trade stands and activities for families to enjoy.
Bikes will be available to hire at a special rate for the day.
The event will be raising funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and each route will have food stops.
The Diss Cyclathon has been organised by Alan Franks and the Nine Town Sportive has been set up by Neil Collins, a member of Diss Cycling Club.
