A community group has donated to those less fortunate than themselves over the holiday period by putting their own personal gifts aside.

The Diss Waveney Rotaey Club presented £150 to the Waveney Food Bank after agreeing not to purchase Christmas cards but to donate £5 to the food bank.

The cheque was presented at the Brome and Oakly Village Hall, in Eye, which hosts monthly lunches organised by staff at the food bank.

Money raised from each lunch goes towards charities in the area including the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice, the Stillborn Baby Trust and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Graham Reardon from the Waveny Food Bank thanked Diss Waveney Rotary Club and welcomed “club members to come along to future lunches and enjoy the food and fellowship”.

The donation comes a part of work by the Rotary Club over the festive period.
