“I’m still on cloud nine,” said a Norfolk famer who received an exclusive invite to the royal wedding on Saturday.

Helen Reeve, from Alburgh, near Harleston, was one of 1,600 members of the public to attend the wedding of the century between the now-titled duke and duchess of Sussex.

The 36-year-old said: “It was an experience and a day I will never forget. The atmosphere was electric and it was a huge honour and privilege to be selected as part of the crowd to celebrate the big day.”

Miss Reeve is also a lecturer and assessor at Easton and Otley College, vice president of Harleston Young Farmers’ Club and a member of a host of cattle societies and livestock clubs.

She received a nomination from the lieutenant of Norfolk to attend the wedding of Harry and Meghan for her work in the community.

“I think I’m still on cloud nine from seeing all the royal family as well as getting the chance to see the celebrities who were there on the day.” she added.

Another of the six attendees from Norfolk to be invited was Carly Hain, a 25-year-old estate agent who was honoured for her efforts as a lead youth worker with SPEADA, a West Norfolk charity.

Despite getting to St George’s Chapel in Windsor a little later than planned due to a mishap with the taxi, she could not have been happier with her spot.

“The grass was really busy but we were right by the entrance and were able to spread out our picnic blanket and enjoy our cider - which was so Norfolk,” said Miss Hain.

“We saw Meghan come in and we were some of the first people she saw when she came through and you could see how the crowd took her breath away in her face.

“It was like a massive Disney movie and she is the perfect princess.”

Once the ceremony was over the guests were allowed into the chapel for an hour to take in the majesty of the event and Miss Hain added she wished she could capture the smell of the flowers to keep forever.

“The next time the country will get this excited about a wedding will probably be Prince George’s.” she said.
