It's time to get out and about in Norfolk to discover the county's many artisan food and drink producers. Whether you're looking for a cheese maker in Wells, a chilli grower in Great Hockham, or a Battle of the Bangers-winning sausage producer in Swafield, there will be something for you, says reporter Victoria Leggett.

The Produced in Norfolk 'Taste the View' weekend is your chance to visit genuine Norfolk artisan producers and find out how, why and what goes into the production of our area's top-quality foodstuffs.

It is the third year the event, which includes businesses from right across the county, has taken place as part of the EDP Adnams Norfolk Food and Drink Festival, in association with Norfolk County Council.

Once again, the offering is varied and includes tasters, a farm tour, milking demonstrations and a host of discounts on PIN produce.

As well as a chance to try their food and drink, organiser Jane Miller, managing director of Produced in Norfolk, says her members will be keen to talk to visitors about what they do.

She says: 'Our producers are all genuine artisans, and this needs passion, hard work and commitment, and going the extra mile.

'While I doubt trade secrets will be revealed, asking a few questions will reveal the fascinating story behind the product, which will lead to an increased appreciation and under-standing and, hopefully, new customers further down the line.'

Producers taking part include this year's Battle of the Bangers winner Tavern Tasty Meat, based at Swafield near North Walsham.

Roger Human will be offering tasters of the Old English sausage which proved so popular with shoppers in Norwich earlier this month.

Also keen to get involved is Mrs Temples Cheese, at Wells, which will run a tour of the dairy farm that produces its milk, and Lakenham Creamery in Norwich, which will have free tasters for customers visiting its Trafalgar Street site.

Discounts of 10pc will also be available on a selection of PIN products at some venues using the vouchers in today's EDP.
