Celebrating and highlighting the church’s role in communities will be the aim of the Church of England Diocese of Norwich marquee at the Royal Norfolk Show 2018.
This year the diocese marquee’s theme is “We Care” to link in with one of the Show’s themes, “Well Being”.
There will be a wide range of activities, areas to explore and exhibits, including activities for children and young people, including the opportunity to try bell ringing for the first time, a reflective garden experience and churchyard wildlife area.
Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in constructing a big church building using Lego bricks.
This project aims to highlight the care and dedication of volunteers who look after their local church building, brick by brick, to ensure its open for the community and visitors each day.
To donate Lego towards the big build take it to 109 Dereham Road, Easton NR9 5ES.
Gordon Darley, director of marketing and communications for the diocese, said: “The show is an amazing opportunity to highlight what the local church is doing across Norfolk and Waveney as well as promoting Christians working together through many different charities.”
Many of the diocese’ partner organisations will be running interactive areas such as the Church Urban Fund who will be discussing poverty and homelessness.
School choirs and music groups will be performing on the stage during both days.
In the run up to the show, parishes, photographers and married couples are being asked to submit a copy of their wedding photos with a caption including the year the wedding took place and at which Norfolk Anglican church.
The diocese will be displaying the photos to highlight the churches as a wedding venue to couples.
Photos can be from a recent wedding or one from decades ago but they must be either inside or outside an Anglican Church in the Diocese of Norwich. They must be at least 1MB in size.
To submit photos, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The marquee will also have a large cafe area featuring a large soft play area for toddlers and parents.
The Royal Norfolk Show is on June 27 and 28.
