It has been running for less than a year, and is already the biggest social enterprise of its kind in the UK.

And now Dereham-based Scoots Hire, which provides mopeds for people to travel to work, education and training, or merely to enable them to be more independent, has taken its fleet of mopeds, scooters and motorcycles up to 392 vehicles.

They have already helped more than 600 people, mostly in Norfolk but also in Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

Barry Lynes, Scoots’ head of strategic partnerships, said: “Our growth over the past 11 months has been extreme and demand for our service continues to grow. We are now the largest wheels to work organisation in the country both by the amount of vehicles we have available to hire and in the area we cover, which is in excess of 5,200 miles.

“We are very proud of our achievements in such a short space of time and it’s fantastic for us to be able to provide affordable transport to so many people.”
