A decision is expected next month over whether advertising hoardings are needed to brighten up one of King's Lynn's less attractive approaches.

Clear Channel UK appealed after West Norfolk council turned down plans to site two 6m-wide billboards at the corner of Benefer Way and Estuary Road.

the company claiming they would help screen an eyesore. But now the rusting oil tanks which occupied the site have been demolished. Highways officers also feared the illuminated hoardings would distract drivers from the traffic lights controlling the junction.

West Norfolk council said a planning inspector has now carried out a site visit and a decision is expected to be announced next month.
