Death crash update: teenager quizzed over burglary
A 17-year-old girl arrested on suspicion of burglary following a fatal crash in Caister early on Wednesday has been released on police bail.
The teenager was questioned by officers at Great Yarmouth Police Station last night where she was further arrested for being carried in a vehicle without the owner's consent and has been bailed pending further inquiries until March 3.
Detectives from Great Yarmouth CID continue to investigate an aggravated burglary in Halt Road, Caister, which officers had been responding to when a silver Ford Fiesta was involved in the collision in Yarmouth Road at 12.10am.
The vehicle was being followed by police after failing to stop when it hit a wall. The front seat passenger, Ryan Youngman, of Middleton Road, Gorleston, died at the scene.
Officers later established that the vehicle had been stolen in Bradwell on Monday, January 31, and detectives are continuing with their inquiries.
The 17-year-old driver remains in James Paget University Hospital in a serious but stable condition and an 18-year-old male who was a rear passenger is expected to be discharged from hospital and interviewed by police later this morning. Both were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
The matter has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission who are currently carrying out an assessment.

The collision continues to be investigated by Norfolk Constabulary with assistance from specialist investigators in Suffolk.
