A daughter went into the sea to rescue her mother after she got into trouble in the water.

Lowestoft and Southwold Coastguard Rescue teams responded to 999 call from a member of public reporting that a female was in distress in the water, directly opposite Kensington Gardens, Lowestoft.

'On arrival at the scene the team had met up with the casualty on the lower prom,' a spokesman for HM Coastguard said after the incident at 4.53pm on Sunday (September 4).

'It was found that the lady was in the water and was rescued by her daughter who went in to save her just moments before we arrived.'

Blankets were provided to keep the lady warm and the East of England Ambulance Service were also requested attend, as it was believed that the lady may of swallowed sea water.
