Shoppers were evacuated from the Marks and Spencer department store in Norwich for a short time this lunchtime.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service sent one fire engine from its Carrow base to assess the situation just after 1pm, which left some customers standing outside the Rampant Horse Street store in the rain.
The situation was soon resolved however, after it emerged that the fire alarm had been activated by a system fault.
