A ventriloquist who has headlined Cromer pier's summer show is returning to the resort tomorrow, Friday, to drum up support for his 'big chance' in the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals on Saturday night.

Steve Hewlett topped the Seaside Special bill in 2011 with his comic puppets, and will be in north Norfolk again on August 8 at the Mundesley Festival. The 38-year-old is busy with cruise and cabaret but entered the TV show auditions to get a higher profile.

He was thrilled to get through to the semi-finals and is seeking to drum up support for the public vote with a return to the pier at 1pm on Friday with right hand man Arthur Lager handing out fliers and leaflets.

He has also appeared in one-off shows at Cromer and cut his performing teeth at holiday parks in the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft areas after turning professional in 1997.

'This is the biggest chance I have had. I would love to win, but will still honour my commitment and come to Mundesley,' he added.
