Police were called to the end of Cromer pier this afternoon when a man in his 40s threatened to jump into the water.
The man, who at one stage claimed to have a weapon, was arrested and detained after the incident which happened around 3.20pm.
The RNLI was alerted but its lifeboat crew and lifeguards were not needed.
