Woman to face court after being charged with assaults on paramedic and police in Norwich

A woman is to appear in court later this month after being charged with assaulting police officers and a paramedic in Norwich.

Carmen Gugu, 32, of no fixed address, has been charged with three counts of assault and another three of assaulting police officers.

She will appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on July 31.

It follows an incident on Barrack Street, Norwich, at about 8pm on Monday (July 16) when officers were initially called after receiving concerned calls about the safety of a woman in the area.

Norfolk Police said during the incident a paramedic was punched in the face, a police officer was spat at, another was kneed and a third was kicked.

Two members of the public were also assaulted.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and common assault.

She was held in custody following the incident before being charged with the assaults.
