Woman arrested over attack on Hunstanton church

A woman in her 30s has been questioned and released without charge in connection with an attack on a church.

A large crucifix was used to smash stained glass windows at Hunstanton Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the building, on Austin Street, at around 5.30pm.

Six of the intricately-leaded stained glass windows in the nave were smashed in the attack.

Police said a woman was arrested but later released without charge.

Worshippers arrived for Sunday service to find the windows on the eastern side of the 19th Century church boarded up.

A notice on the door said an evening event had been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances.

As well as Sunday services, the church is used by a number of groups for meeetings and events.
