A Norfolk vicar has appeared in court charged with possessing indecent images of children and extreme pornography.

Andrew Mitcham, 51, of Church Street, Walsingham, appeared at King's Lynn magistrates court on Thursday, November 16.

He has been charged with three counts of possession of indecent photographs and video of a child, said to be in categories A, B and C.

Mitcham was also charged with the possession of extreme pornographic images and video, and possession of a prohibited image of a child.

The offences allegedly took place between September 15, 2016 and July 11, 2017.

District Judge Nicholas Watson sent the case to Norwich Crown Court, where Mitcham will appear on Thursday, December 14, to formally enter his pleas to the charges.

Mitcham was released on bail under the condition that he does not have any contact with any child under the age of 16.
