A fourth person appeared in court yesterday (Thursday) in connection with an acid attack in Lowestoft last year.

Daniel Marshall, 38, of Rose Court in Lowestoft has been charged with conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and committing an act or series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Thursday, April 9.

On August 14 last year, Adele Bellis, 22, suffered life-changing injuries during the alleged attack.

Leon Thompson, 38, of Alma Road, Lowestoft, and Anthony Riley, 25, of Raglan Street, Lowestoft have both pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to wound Adele Bellis with intent to do her grievous bodily harm.

They have also denied a charge of conspiracy to throw sulphuric acid at Miss Bellis with intent to burn, maim, disfigure or disable her between May 1, 2014 and August 15, 2014.

Thompson has also pleaded not guilty to having a Stanley knife in an alleyway between Camp Road and Till Road, Lowestoft on April 29 and wounding Miss Bellis with intent to do her grievous bodily harm on April 29.

Riley also denies falsely imprisoning Miss Bellis against her will in March.

Jason Harrison, 27, of Princes Road, Lowestoft, has also been charged with throwing a dangerous/noxious substance with intent to harm, maim, disfigure, disable or do grievous bodily harm and conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

At Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday 19 March, Harrison's case was adjourned until May 1 for a plea and directions hearing. On the same date a case progression hearing will take place in respect of Thompson and Riley.

The defendants were remanded in custody and the trial is due to take place at Ipswich Crown Court on August 17.
