Two teenagers denied their involvement in the murder of 20-year-old Connor Barrett, in Hemsby, when they appeared at Norwich Crown Court.

One of the defendants Jesse Quaye, of Crittens Road, Great Yarmouth, can now be named for the first time as he just turned 18 on Friday and Judge Stephen Holt lifted an order restricting his identification.

Quaye and a 15-year-old youth appeared via a link from a young offender's institution at Cookham Wood, and both denied the charge of murder of Mr Barrett on May 11.

Mr Barrett, from Abyssinia Close, Great Yarmouth, died as a result of a fatal stab wound inflicted at a private party held in Hemsby.

As well as the murder charge, Quaye and the 15-year-old youth also denied assault causing actual bodily harm to Ricky Halliday and both also denied a charge of having an offensive weapon.

A third defendant, Anthony McLean, 41, from Drifters Way, Great Yarmouth, was also in the dock and he denied the one charge he faces of assisting an offender between May 10 and May 13 this year.

The court was packed for the hearing and Judge Holt said that the trial which is expected to start on October 20, would be held in a larger court to accommodate everyone who wants to attend.

Quaye and the 15-year-old youth were remanded in custody, but McLean was given bail.
