There was a huge police presence in Lakenham on Thursday night, caused by a woman being threatened with what she believed was a gun.
Armed police were called to the Queen’s Road area at around 9.30pm following a report a woman had been threatened with what she thought was a firearm.
The police helicopter assisted and a vehicle was located in the Long John Hill area at around 10pm and a toy gun was found.
A resident of Long John Hill, who did not want to be named, said she felt scared when she saw what was happening through her window.
“At one point I saw police with guns and dogs. There was also a helicopter. I have no idea what went on though and to be honest it was all a bit scary.”
Shop owners were also left baffled by last night’s incident. One worker, who also did not want to be named, said: “We’ve heard bits and bobs from people coming in to the shop today. But no one really seems to know what went on.”
One witness said on Facebook: “It was scary stuff, armed response, dogs.. Over ten police cars between Long John Hill and Netherwood Green.”
Three people were spoken to. They were not arrested, as we previously reported last night.
A Norfolk police spokeswoman said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”
