A Great Yarmouth teenager is to appear in court after being charged with drug offences in the town.

Damien Laverick, 19 of Waterloo Road, has been charged with two counts of possessing Class A drugs and one of supplying a Class A drug.

His charges came after officers were called to reports of an affray on Temple Road in the town at around 1.35pm on Tuesday, February 6.

Laverick and another male - aged in his late teens from Essex - were detained by police, with further enquiries leading to officers discovering a large quantity of Class A drugs at an address in Queens Road.

He is due to appear before magistrates on Norwich this morning - Thursday, February 8.

The second male was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug and has since been released under investigation.

The charges are made as part of Operation Gravity - a Norfolk Police clampdown on drug offences in the county.
