A man caught speeding at almost 30mph over the 60mph limit said he had got a call from his partner who told him she 'thought she was going to be sexually assaulted'.'

Dominique Hickman, 37, was charged with speeding after he was caught driving at 88mph on the A17 at Sutton Bridge, near Kings Lynn.

Norwich Magistrates Court heard Hickman faced losing his driving licence following two previous speeding convictions, in August and September last year where he received three penalty points for each offence.

Hickman, of Honeysuckle Way, Attleborough, admitted the charge.

He said: 'The reason I was speeding that day was I got a phone call from my partner crying, saying that she thought she was going to get sexually assaulted.'

Hickman said he 'panicked' and rushed back to get her.

Hickman was given five penalty points for the latest speeding offence and fined £120, ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £100 costs.
