Cars damaged and broken into across South Norfolk

Police are urging motorists to be vigilant following a spate of criminal damage and thefts from motor vehicles in South Norfolk.

A total of 14 vehicles were targeted and either damaged or had items stolen between Tuesday, April 30 and Monday, June 3. The incidents took place in Diss, Roydon, Bressingham, Shelfanger, Aslacton, Forncett St Mary and Winfarthing.

PC Andy Barkway said: "We are investigating these incidents which we do believe are linked and urge anyone who may see any suspicious activity to contact police on 101 or dial 999 if you see a crime in progress.

"It is important that members of the public are vigilant and ensure that they think about their vehicle security. Vehicle owners should lock their cars and remove any valuables. If you have a garage, use it or try to park in well-lit open places."

Police have issued vehicle security advice including:

- All contents should be taken out of the vehicle or locked away out of sight.

- Don't leave anything on display in your car.

- Take your belongings with you when you leave the car - if you can't, lock them in the boot before you start your journey.

- Lock all doors and close windows and the sun roof every time you leave your car unattended.

- Always lock your car and garage.
