Police release three people after staff are threatened with metal pole during robbery at village shop

Three people have been released pending further investigation following a robbery at a convenience store which saw staff threatened with a metal pole.
Police were called just before 10pm on Tuesday night to the Spar store in Church Road, Barningham, after a man entered the premises and threatened staff with a metal pole.
A spokesman for Suffolk Police said: “A man entered the store holding a metal pole and demanded money and alcohol from the members of staff.
“He then left the premises taking a quantity of cash and three bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey.”
He added that members of staff were not injured during the robbery.
Police arrived at the scene ten minutes later and a search of the local area was undertaken with help from dog units.
Following these early investigations, at around 2.10am, three people from a nearby village were arrested on suspicion of robbery, a 22-year-old man from the Bury St Edmunds area and a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman from the Diss area.
They were all taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, where they have since been released pending further investigation.
