An elderly man on a mobility scooter was stopped by police just before he went onto the A47.

Police were called at 3pm on Monday due to concerns for the safety of the man on the scooter who was seen travelling the wrong way on the road and was heading for the dual carriageway.

Officers managed to track him down and he was stopped on the eastbound Longwater slip road by a police officer before he entered the carriageway.

Victoria MacDonald tweeted in relation to the incident: 'Bizarre sight this afternoon on the A47 slip road up to Longwater - chap on mobility scooter pulled over by @NorfolkPolice.'

The officer then took the man home.
